I'm back to work after a short break from painting. I've still been drawing a lot but I've been feeling lazy when it comes to painting. I think this laziness came out of the fact that I have work hanging at the Ridgewood Art Institute, which has been a great success in my life; as a result of this, I've been resting on my laurels and haven't painted. I finally started a new painting of a cocker spaniel puppy today and I feel much better.
I really love keeping the momentum of my life going and when that momentum is broken then I fall into unhappiness. I want to keep improving my painting skills, teaching, going to the gym and doing all the things that bring me true joy. So I've had to tell myself "Get back to work!" --I'll share more photos of this painting as it progresses.

I had a great time at the Ridgewood Art Institute yesterday for the reception of the 2017 Instructors' Show! I took photos of my pieces to share, but check out the exhibition if you're in northern NJ.
My class at the Ridgewood Art Institute meets every Wednesday from 3:30PM to 5:30PM. It's an oil painting class for young people (ages 8-17) and focuses on figure painting, portraits, pet portraits and animals. Anyone interested in attending can stop by the class or contact me at easantoli@gmail.com More information about the class can be found HERE! Today is the final class of a three day course taught by John Woodrow Kelley at the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA). I was given the incredible opportunity to be the TA for the course, which I'm so honored by. The course covered a full analysis of the way light and shadow describe form. Mr. Kelley is a brilliant artist and is an absolutely amazing instructor. It's a rare combination to be gifted with artistic ability and the skill to explain it to a student. I learned a tremendous amount by observing him.
I took a bunch of photos from last night's class to share and I wanted to thank the ICAA, John Kelley and all the students for allowing me to help out with this course. |
