I put the finishing touches on this painting and signed it! I'm always very particular when I sign a painting and it usually takes me three or four times to get it just right. I had to erase this signature 4 times before I was happy with the way it looks. I also had to touch up the hand a bit even after I signed it. I guess the work never ends. I read that Bouguereau would continue to work on a painting even after it was framed!
I'll let this dry now before I varnish it. I have some commissions to work and I want to start another dog painting for the upcoming show at the Ridgewood Art Institute.

This painting is progressing faster than I thought it would! I think I'll work on it for two more sessions and then sign it. I'm really very happy with it and I think it's a beautiful scene and composition.
Today, I spent a lot of time working on the child's face and the landscape behind her. I also like it because I can tell that I painted it-- it has my style! I just cleaned up my paints after putting in a lot of work on this painting. I also decided to change the title to "Flower Picking" instead of "Girl Holding a Flower". My initial concept was to do a painting of a young girl going around a garden and picking flowers which is why I changed the title. I'll post more progress photos as I keep working!
I'm very honored to be the artist for this amazing event! I look forward to sketching everyone's pets!!
