I just received two rolls of medium/heavy weight lead double-primed canvas that I ordered for some larger paintings. I ordered one roll of gray and one of white (photos below). I've noticed that medium and heavier weight linen works well for larger paintings because the lighter/finer linen tends to pucker and warp. This beautiful canvas is from A.E. Art Canvas Priming in the Bronx, N.Y. - I've written about this company before, but I want to give them another shout out because Mr. Angel De La Cruz is a great craftsman. He does completely custom orders so whatever you want, he makes. This is difficult to find nowadays and it's especially difficult to find lead primed linen. Also, before I ordered, he graciously sent me samples of linen (for free) to see which one I preferred. You can reach Angel via email: [email protected] and their address is: A E Art Canvas Priming 605 East 132nd Street Bronx NY 10454 (718) 665-3814 Here are some images of the heavier weight double-primed lead canvas - linen #77

Really fascinating lecture on Sorolla's life and work. I wish I could go back in time and go to this exhibition.. Anyone looking for Studio Ghibli movies should check out Barnes & Noble - Our local B&N had these Ghibli DVD's 20% off so I completed my collection of the movies directed by Hayao Miyazaki and I added Only Yesterday, which Miyazaki produced and was directed by Studio Ghibli co-founder, Isao Takahata. I'm never leaving my house again haha. After a trip down to Spring Lake today, I now have all my paintings back, framed and ready for the Geary Gallery. I'm very proud of the way they all came out. The collection was 3 years in the making and contains landscapes, a beachscape, still lifes and some flower pot paintings. Most of the work was painted en plein air. The beachscape was painted on the beach at Spring Lake, N.J. - There's probably still some sand embedded in the stretcher bars haha. These works will soon be available, I'll write another blog post when they are. I would like to thank Anne and Tom for supporting my art and I can't wait to see my paintings hanging in their beautiful gallery. Here are the rest of the paintings that will be available. |
