-Pet Portraits continue-
I finished another commission. Thoroughly enjoyed trying to capture the expression of life of this little dog.
-Further Work on 'Springtime'-
As I continue, I am trying to keep the spontaneity of the initial layer. It's very easy to lose a feeling of vitality as work progresses.
Currently on the easel in the studio, I am working on a fairly large scale figure. It began as a study of a new technique involving the rubbing in of the ebauche (Underpainting) through various layers of thinly applied paint with mostly round bristle brushes.
I begin with mainly earth colors and then move towards more finished tones. Subdued colors tend to give a more realistic representation so to begin with earth tones is a good idea for color and stability.
This is an interesting technique because the surface remains even and has a very nice quality to it.
Any questions on technique are freely accepted and encouraged. Email me or comment below!
