After a trip down to Spring Lake today, I now have all my paintings back, framed and ready for the Geary Gallery. I'm very proud of the way they all came out. The collection was 3 years in the making and contains landscapes, a beachscape, still lifes and some flower pot paintings. Most of the work was painted en plein air. The beachscape was painted on the beach at Spring Lake, N.J. - There's probably still some sand embedded in the stretcher bars haha. These works will soon be available, I'll write another blog post when they are. I would like to thank Anne and Tom for supporting my art and I can't wait to see my paintings hanging in their beautiful gallery. Here are the rest of the paintings that will be available.

Really happy with the way these pieces look framed. Learning to frame pieces yourself is a great thing to do because it's fun and it saves a lot of money.
The pastel of the cat is an older piece from around 2011/2012 of our old cat, Lilly; I should have framed it years ago, but now it's properly framed under glass. The garden painting is titled The Main Garden (16" X 14") and it's going to be available for sale at the end of August at the Geary Gallery. As always, these frames are from Art to Frames in Brooklyn, N.Y. My new frames came today from Art To Frames and I'm very pleased with them. Art To Frames always does a great job and I highly recommend them for anyone looking for great custom frames.
These pieces will all be available from the Geary Gallery at the end of August. I also have two more pieces that will be available once they're framed: The Main Garden (16" X 14") and Long View of Spring Lake Beach (12" X 18"). It's always a great feeling to frame a painting. I do my own framing and got this one from: www.pictureframes.com - It's a nice quality frame and fit perfectly. This painting is for my Mom and I did it back in 2015 when I was really into the method of William Bouguereau (1825 - 1905).
The surface had yellowed quite a bit when it was in storage so I left it in a window with some direct sun for about a month; this is a great trick for anyone with yellowed oil paintings, the sun will bleach the yellow without harming the colors. *Do not put watercolors in a spot with direct sunlight because it'll destroy your watercolors. This is only for oil paintings which can turn yellow when in darkness for extended periods. Now it looks good and it's going to look great hanging on the wall. |
