I have some books that really inspire me in my headboard bookcase, everything from Edgar Allen Poe's collection of tales to some great Bouguereau books. I absorb these books before I go to sleep, some would say with a certain level of OCD. But, that's how I am and it's something that drives me to reach higher.
But more importantly, I also always keep a piece of scrap computer paper and a ballpoint pen to write down words that I don't know and whenever I have a composition that I want to sketch. It's a good habit to fall into so that the sketching becomes second nature. Sometimes an idea comes for a composition even in the middle of the night, and I never take a chance to remember it until morning. Better off sketching the idea right off the bat.
Books are fuel and knowledge is always power.
