I just got a new travel sized watercolor painting palette from Holbein. The palette is really beautifully made and comes in a variety of sizes; bigger sizes can hold more colors, but I opted for the 26 color version. I haven't used the palette yet because I'm waiting for my watercolors to dry so they don't slowly drip down when I fold it up. I bought mine from Dick Blick and it came really fast in the mail. I was looking for a metal palette to carry around for plein air sketching and I can't wait to try this one out!

This palette is not from Holbein. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. According to the information provided on Holbein's website, Dick Blick have sold genuine Holbein palettes in the past, yes. But not anymore! Now all the aluminium palettes on their website are just cheaply imitations. We can not find any Holbein logo on those packages but "Helsea" or "Chelsea" . Definitely not genuine product from Holbein! There are several imitation brands like this one (Heung Il, Color Around,...) and we can buy them from Amazon for affordable prices ($20-$30). Dick Blick sell them for 3 times the price on Amazon! Oh no...

What a bummer! Thanks for the insight. Blick used to sell a lot of really nice products, but I get the feeling they're changing in a bad way.
